Travel journal supplies:

5 sheets of notebook paper
colored paper & watercolor paper/cardstock
scissors & pencil
tape & glue
needle & thread
photos/magazines to decorate the cover

Putting your travel journal together:

Step 1: Fold each sheet of notebook paper in half lengthwise, or long ways. Fold in half again and cut along the second fold.

Step 2: Place each of the folded pages (signatures) into each other—this will become your paper stack.

Step 3: Poke holes into the spine of the pages using your needle. I poked 4 holes into the spine of my journal.

Step 4: Sew the pages together beginning from the back of the spine; your knot will be hidden when the journal is put together.

Step 5: Place the sewn paper stack onto your cardstock for your cover. Mark where the edges of your papers are using a pencil and follow this guide to cut out your covers.

Step 6: Place the front of the covers back-to-back with your paper stack in between. Tape the covers together where the spine will be—this will also ensure that the covers will be the correct distance apart.

Step 7: Remove the paper stack and turn the taped covers right-side out. Glue the end pages of your paper stack to the inside of your taped covers.

Step 8: Place colored paper or a magazine page on top of the inside cover—you will use this to hide the glued notebook paper. Cut the colored or magazine paper the length and width of the journal and glue to the inside cover.

Step 9: Decorate your travel journal as you see fit!
