1. Find your name overseas. Kristian Kelly is a wonderfully-Irish name, so it wasn’t very difficult finding her name in Galway.
2. Buy food from a street vendor. This one is a must. This is a donut vendor in Ireland. He was just frying them up right on the street. Worried about germs or sanitary standards? Don’t. Just eat.
3. Browse through a local store. It’s fun to see all of the different brands, clothing styles, and types of food. Check out the local handspun items. Or marvel at the fact that they don’t refrigerate eggs in Ireland!
4. Listen to a local band. It doesn’t matter if they’re great or if you’ve heard of them before. In fact, it’s more fun when the band is excited to see you excited to see them….and they dedicate a song to the girls from Oklahoma! (That was a band called Socks in the Frying Pan….priceless). We don’t remember the name of these guys, but they were grand.
5. Find a street market. Kristian almost brought a live chicken home with her, but we talked her out of it…just in time.
